The Dream You Were Going to Have Tonight, but Probably Won’t Now

Standard

(accompanied by barely audible pan-flute and dripping faucet)

At the top of that hill
watched by buckets of krill
sits a sled that knows your name
it knows who you are
(though you’ve come from afar)
and it wants to play a game

You must swallow the krill
as if each was a pill
and light your shoes aflame
then you’ll sit on the sled
and you’ll wake up in bed
wondering what the point of all that was.

You may then find the answer
or you may die of cancer
but never can you be the same
no never can you be the same.
